Re: What's Your Story Idea

I am an investor/trader turning intra day trader. And I would like DSIJ to publish a list of highly volatile and liquid scripts which are safe for intraday trading, with some statistics on their volatility (Average % daily change, Avg volume traded etc). And these stats should consider both +ve or -ve changes, separately, (instead of netting one against the other) as one can make profit in both situations. Thanks.

Re: What's Your Story Idea

Why dont you start new column on how to calculate the tax.

Since this financial year, the DSJ recommendations gave very good profit.

There is lot of doubts on how to calculate the tax.

Say
1. how to calculate the tax for intra day trading
2. Whether STT is allowed to deduct from the tax component
3. Normally, the shares cost should be taken as FIFO. In case of I have bought and taken delivery of 100 HCC shares on 5.5.09 and I done the intraday trade of 100 HCC on 11.7.09. Whether this for long term calculation the original date of HCC is to be taken or intraday trade date should be taken

4. I have two DP account with different trading brokerages. Then If I bought the same company share on different dates in different DP. On selling of the shares, for date purpose(FIFO) whether FIFO by combining both DP or DP wise to taken.

Like wise lot of doubts are there. When I enquired in my friends circle, lot of investors also not having much awarness on these kind of questions.

As DS has done a marvelous job of educating on the stock market why should not better feed on this area also. The section may include with the Q&A column also

Re: What's Your Story Idea

Hi ,

One of the things which might be worth a thought is how do different sectors perform in different stages of an economic revival . For example - in the initial stages of an economic upswing typically auto , FMCG and other sectors which are driven by local demand . In the next phase as inflation begins to notch up and other macro economic fundamentals begin to improve - Banks , Infrastructure lead the markets . In what would be the third phase - typically commodities and real estate do better as inflation rises sharply and commodities and real estate work as inflation hedges . This is what i observed in the previous bull mkt .It might be worthwhile looking at numerous US recoveries most notably the recent ones for further pointers

Re: What's Your Story Idea

I would like to have something like a search engine where I can locate a company in your data and the details provided by you may be in 6 consecutive or preferably within a year. Same is the casse with FLASH NEWS also.
