Market Side-Ways On F&O Expiry

The Indian markets witnessed trade in a very narrow range till the closing-session. Major buying was witnessed in the Capital Goods and the Banking sectors. Some profit booking seen in Consumer Durables and Oil & Gas indices. The Nifty remained on higher side by 25 points at 6840 and Sensex was 118 points higher at 22876.

The advance-decline ratio on NSE was on the positive side as the day ended with 1709 shares in green and 1686 shares in the red zone.

Top Nifty Gainers: Bank of Baroda gained 3.34% in today’s trade, followed by Kotak Mahindra, L&T, PNB and Ambuja Cement.

Top Nifty Losers: Cairn closed the day lower by 3.11%, followed by DLF, IDFC, BPCL and Ultra Tech Cement.

Most of the sectoral indices closed on a positive note. Capital Goods and Banking witnessed superb up move by 187 points and 135 points respectively. FMCG, Healthcare and Metals indices also witnessed small up moves. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps ended the day on a nominal positive note. Consumer Durables and Oil & Gas closed in negative territory. 

All the major Asian markets closed the day on a negative note. Hang Seng closed down by 221 points, whereas Taiwan Index closed down by 17 points. Shanghai Composite and Kospi also closed in the negative territory. However Nikkei Index closed on some positive note up by 157 points.  

Buzzer: Bank Of Baroda was up by more than 3.34% on the bourses today and closed above the technical level of Rs 800. If the stock opens above this level, it may touch the Rs 810/825 mark in the next few sessions.

Nifty may future positive above the technical level of 6900. However it has a major hurdle ahead around 7000 level.
