Sensex Closes Above 26500 Mark, Auto Surges
The Indian markets witnessed a nominally positive trade on today’s session. Auto was the outperformer of the day followed by Bankex, IT and Oil & Gas with some uptrend movement. Mid-caps and small-caps also closed to recover from the lower ends. The Nifty index ended up by 31 points at 7936 and Sensex closed up by 117 points at 26560.
The advance-decline ratio on NSE was on the positive side as the day ended with 1886 shares in green and 1710 shares in the red zone.
Top Nifty Gainers: Jindal Steel gained 3.08% in today’s trade, followed by HCL Tech, IndusInd Bank, ONGC and ICICI Bank.
Top Nifty Losers: DLF closed the day lower by 4.57%, followed by BHEL, Sesa Sterlite, IDFC and Kotak Mahindra.
Most of the sectoral indices closed on a positive note. Auto and Bankex were the outperformers of the day, up by 139 points and 94 points respectively. Oil & Gas, IT, mid-caps and small-caps also witnessed a positive momentum. However sectors like Metals and Health Care remained in the negative territory.
All the major Asian markets closed the day on a mixed note. Nikkei closed up by 13 points, whereas Taiwan index and KOSPI index closed up by 91 points and 6 points respectively. However Hang Seng closed in the negative territory.
Buzzer: HCL Tech was up by more than 2.5% on the bourses today and closed near the technical level of Rs 1650. If the stock opens above this level, it may touch the Rs 1670/1700 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty Future closed around the technical level of 7950. If it opens above this level, we may see August expiry above 8000 mark.
