Indices Side-Ways On F&O Expiry
The Indian markets witnessed side-ways trade in today’s session. Capital Goods and Oil & Gas provided good support to the indices. On the other hand Metals, IT and Health Care witnessed profit booking trade. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps also closed on a mixed note. The Nifty index ended up by 18 points at 7954 and Sensex closed up by 77 points at 26638.
The advance-decline ratio on NSE was on the negative side as the day ended with 1917 shares in green and 1687 shares in the red zone.
Top Nifty Gainers: BHEL gained 5.13% in today’s trade, followed by BPCL, IDFC, GAIL and ONGC.
Top Nifty Losers: Jindal Steel closed the day lower by 4.59%, followed by DLF, Tata Power, Tata Steel and Bank of Baroda.
The sectoral indices closed on a mixed note. Capital Goods and Oil & Gas witnessed good up move by 210 points and 117 points respectively. On the other hand Metals, IT and Health Care saw some profit booking trade. Mid-caps and small-caps saw momentum on both the sides. However Bankex closed on a flattish note.
All the major Asian markets closed the day on a negative note. Nikkei closed down by 74 points, whereas Hang Seng Index and Straits Times Index closed down by 177 points and 11 points respectively. However KOSPI closed in the positive territory.
Buzzer: DLF was down by more than 3% on the bourses today and closed near the technical level of Rs 180. If the stock opens below this level, it may touch the Rs 175/170 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty August series ended above 7900 mark, indicating good strength for a short term prospective.
