Indices Flattish, Small-Caps Surge
The market witnessed flattish trade in today’s session. Mid-cap and small-cap stocks witnessed some positive action. However Auto and Consumer Durables closed in the red mark. The Nifty index saw nominal up moves by 1 point at 8324 and Sensex closed negative by 5 points at 27860 at the end of today’s trade.
The advance-decline ratio on NSE was positive, as the day ended with 2181 shares in green and 1497 shares in the red zone.
Top Nifty Gainers: Jindal Steel gained 5.72% in today’s trade, followed by DLF, Tech Mahindra, Bank Of Baroda and PNB.
Top Nifty Losers: GAIL closed the day lower by 5.91%, followed by Coal India, M&M, NMDC and HCL Tech.
Most of the sectoral indices closed on a positive note. Mid-caps and small-caps stocks witnessed good amount of buying in today’s trading session, up more than by 100 points each. Bankex, Health Care and Capital Goods also closed in the positive territory. However Auto and Consumer Durables closed with some profit booking trade, down by 163 points and 146 points respectively.
All the Asian markets closed on a positive note in today’s session. The Nikkei market closed on a positive mark, up by 755 points. Hang Seng closed down by 82 points. However Taiwan and Shanghai Composite closed in the positive territory.
Buzzer: Jindal Steel was up by more than 5% on the bourses today and closed above the technical level of Rs 170. If the stock opens above this level, it may touch the Rs 185/200 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty future consolidates in the small range around 8350-8370 level. Going ahead the level of 8388/8400 will be the major hurdles.
