Markets Choppy, Infy Surges

The Indian markets witnessed choppy move in the wide range in today’s session. The index started off some positive note, but didn’t sustain on highs. However on the closing buzz, stocks like Infosys and ONGC provide handsome support to pulled the benchmark on green territory. The Nifty index closed up by 49.90 points at 8284 and the Sensex ended the day on higher at 27458, up by 183 points.

The advance-decline ratio on NSE was on the negative side as the day ended with 1354 shares in green and 1543 shares in the red zone.

Top Nifty Gainers: HUL gained 5.82% in today’s trade, followed by Infy, Tech Mahindra, Dr Reddys Labs and TCS.

Top Nifty Losers: DLF closed the day lower by 3.43%, followed by NTPC, Jindal Steel, Bajaj Auto and IDFC.

Most the sectoral indices closed on a positive note. IT stocks were outperformer of the day, dragged indices on the higher side up by 364 points. Followed by, Health Care and Oil & Gas index up by 257 points and 154 points respectively. Consumer Durables also were closed in positive territory, up around 79 points. While Mid-Caps and Small-Caps were nominally positive. However Bankex and Capital Goods were shown downward move around 65 points.   

All the major Asian markets closed the day on a mixed note. Nikkei index up by 30 points. While Hang Seng closed on the positive note up by 84 points. However Taiwan and Straits closed in the negative territory, down by 22 points and 6 points respectively.

Buzzer: HUL was down more than 5.8% on the bourses today and closed near the technical level of Rs 860. If the stock opens above this level, it may touch the Rs 880/900 mark in the next few sessions.

Nifty Future took a vital support around 8180 mark in daily chart. However 8355/8400 will be the major hurdles ahead.
