A Directionless Day Ends In Nominal Gains

The headline indices remained flat till the end of day’s gains. The Nifty ended 32 points higher on 8360, while the Sensex was up by 87 points at 27661.

The NSE 50 and the BSE 30 indices opened on a minor in positive but remained flat till the end of day’s trades. There were no major triggers to take them in any direction as such. However the market witnessed some buying at the closing buzz. The Nifty ended 32 points higher on 8360, while the Sensex was up by 87 points at 27661. The indices ended up in the range of 0.10 - 0.13 percent.

The advance-decline ratio ended same on the both the sides. On the NSE, 1399 shares closed in green, while 1368 shares ended the day in red.

Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Vedanta closed with the highest gains, up by 5.15%. Sun pharma, Grasim, Bank of Baroda and Zee Entertainment were among the others trading positive.

Top 5 Nifty Losers: Bharti Airtel finished the day down by 3.3%, followed by Idea Cellular, HUL, TCS and GAIL.

8 out of the 13 sectors closed in the green. Bankex was the top gainer up by 210 points. This was followed by Capital Goods and Healthcare, both were up around 175 points. Metals, Oil & Gas, Mid-Caps and Small-Caps also were closed in positive territory. However, IT, Consumer Durables and Auto saw a  nominal selling pressure.

The Nikkei market was the top loser among its Asian peers, dropped by 75 points. On the other hand Hang Seng was saw handsome up move by 508 points, and Shanghai and KOSPI also remained in the green.

Buzzer: Vedanta, the stock saw goods up move by 5.2 %. The scrip rallied from major support level, which was around Rs 125. Going ahead the stocks may continue with current momentum to make some tops.

The Nifty traded in a very narrow range for today’s session. Monday’s opening trade may decide some direction for the index.
