Choppy Indices end on Lower Note
The NSE 50 and BSE 30 continued with negative sentiments from the globe. All the sectors dropped in the range of 2%-5% in a single day. The Nifty ended lower by 88 points at 7791 and Sensex closed 317 points down at 25714. The indices ended in red more than 1 percent each.
The advance-decline ratio ended on the negative side in today’s session. On the NSE, 1320 shares closed in green, while 1350 shares were in red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: BHEL closed the day as the highest gainer, up by 3.96%. Cairn India, Tata Power, Bajaj Auto and Tata Motors were among the others that closed in gains.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: Ambuja Cement was down by 4.5% today, followed by Tech Mahindra, HDFC, SBI and Bank Of Baroda.
Bankex was the highest loser among the sectoral indices, down 331 points. Healthcare, Auto and IT dipped more than 100 points each. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps both ended on a mixed note.
Among the Asian peers, the Nikkei market was the highest gainer today, up by 570 points. The Hang Seng ended lower by 324 points. Shanghai and Straits Times also ended on a negative note.
Buzzers: Ambuja Cement's stock were down by 4.5% today and hit a 52-week low of Rs 197.40. Below this level it may see more correction.
The Nifty futures closed below the psychological level of 7800, indicating the possibility of a further downside in the next trading session.
