The Indian markets witnessed continued profit booking in the latter half of the trading session. The most affected were the stocks of IT and Healthcare, as they witnessed basket selling and were down by more than 2 percent each. All the sectoral indices are trading in negative territory. The Sensex is trading at 26770 down by 131 points. The Nifty is trading the day lower by 40 points at 8100. Both the indices are lower by a 0.45 percent each.

The market breadth ended on a negative note at the mid-day. On the NSE, 1368 shares closed in the green, while 1284 shares ended the day in red.

Top Nifty Gainers: Ultratech Cement was the highest gainer today and appreciated by 2.2%. It was followed by Bajaj Auto, BPCL, Coal India and BHEL.

Top Nifty Losers: ONGC ended the day lower by 3.9%. It was followed by Hindalco, Idea, HCL Tech and vedanta.

All of the 13 sectors ended the day with losses. IT was the top loser as it closed lower by a hefty 123 points. Oil & Gas and Healthcare were also down the day significantly lower, more than 50 points. Mid-caps and small-caps were down by 12 points and 10 points respectively.

The Asian markets closed on a negative note today. The Nikkei was the top loser as it closed down by 203 points. The Hang Seng ended lower by 130 points. The KOSPI and Taiwan also ended on a negative note.

Buzzer: Ultratech Cement gained 2.2% today as the stock sustained above the technical level of Rs 2900, which is indicative of a more positive move ahead.

If the Nifty closes below its vital support level of 8100 today it will indict a more painful scenario ahead.
