RCom to start 4G services under Jio

According to the media reports Reliance Communication will start its 4G services for CDMA customers in the selected circles on Friday i.e. July 1.

RCom will provide the services under the spectrum sharing agreement with Reliance Jio Infocomm. It will use Jio’s network to provide the 4G services across the country. 

Off the total CDMA subscribers of RCom, nearly 90 per cent or 7.2 million are said to have already applied to upgrade for the 4G services. The said subscribers are likely to get 10 GB of 4G data access. They will also be eligible for unlimited 4G services on both local and STD and one time offer of 150 minutes of local and STD calls on paying between Rs 93 and 97 depending on their telecom circle.

The launch of the 4G service would charge Rs 252 for the 1 GB 4G data pack which will be cheaper than other peers Vodafone and Bharti Airtel. However, postpaid plans are still comparatively higher than the said peers.

RCom’s CDMA customer base in Mumbai, Delhi, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh who have subscribed for the services will be eligible for the 4G services. Apart from this it will also initiate its 4G services in Kolkata, Gujarat, Punjab, UP East and West, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. For other parts viz; Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Rajasthan, the company is still awaiting approval from the respective telecom departments so that it can launch it by mid-July.
