Indices closed with profit booking; Auto hammered

Following negative sentiments from domestic front, the benchmark indices witnessed profit booking on closing buzz. The Nifty ended lower by 45 points at 8590 and Sensex closed 118 points down at 8590. Majority of the sectors dropped and closed on a negative note. Auto was the top sectoral loser, down by 232 points followed by Healthcare down by 181 points.

The advance decline ratio ended on the negative side at the closing buzz. 13 stocks closed with green mark whereas, 38 stocks closed in red.

Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Axis Bank was top gainer with 2.5% gains, followed by Powergrid, Yes Bank, Tata Steel and HCL Tech. 

Top 5 Nifty Losers: Dr. Reddy's was top loser with loss of 5.1% followed by ICICI Bank, Hindalco, Hero MotoCorp and Auropharma. 

On the sectoral front, 11 out of the 13 sectors ended in the red. Auto and Healthcare sector were top losers and were down by 232 points and 181 points respectively. Whereas Bankex and Oil & Gas sector also were down around 150 points and 70 points respectively. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps also were closed on mix note.

The Asian markets were quoting fairly positive; Nikkei was closed in red, down by 237 points. While Hong Kong’s Hang-Seng was up by 136 points. KOSPI and Shanghai Composite also closed in positive territory.

In Europe, FTSE opened up by 12 points, DAX opened 17 points up, and CAC opened 5 points higher.

Derivative Analysis

Since the Nifty July future closed below 8600 level, going ahead 8540/8490 levels will be vital supports.
