After I-T returns, Aadhar to be mandatory for getting telecom connections too
Burgeoning the influentaility of Aadhaar card, after making e-KYC identification mandatory for filling I-T returns, the government is likely to make it mandatory for getting a telecom connection too.
In a notice to all the telecom operators, the Department of Telecom commanded the operators to verify all the mobile phone subscribers, both prepaid and postpaid using the e-KYC from now on. While, mobile service providers must verify its existing subscribers by February 6, 2018.
Therewithal, the Supreme Court had also rolled out a notice recently to verify all the phone numbers across India.
The government is waging to promote Aadhaar as a single verification process for all services, whereas Supreme Court stated that the UID may be made mandatory for certain services, if not for all.
