RIL contributes 50 per cent to Sensex fall, Tata Steel top Sensex gainer
Markets traded volatile on Wednesday and managed to close in the red, with the Sensex closing at 30,834 level, down by 123 points or 0.40 per cent.
Nifty Futures managed to close at a premium of 10 points, closing at 9504. Spot Nifty closed at 9494.
Tata Steel was the top Sensex gainer, gaining 1.98 per cent over yesterday's close. Bharti Airtel was up by 1.84 per cent and Wipro inched up by 1.17 per cent.
RIL was the top Sensex loser as the heavyweight closed at Rs 1399.70, down by 2.52 per cent. RIL contributed almost 50 per cent to the Sensex loss.
Asian Paints and HDFC were the other top Sensex losers, down by 2.12 per cent and 1.89 per cent, respectively.
BSE Metal index was the top gainer with a gain of 1.62 per cent. BSE Telecom index gained 1.11 per cent and BSE Realty closed up by 0.56 per cent.
BSE Oil & Gas index was down by 0.79 per cent, while BSE Consumer Durables index slid 1.22 per cent and BSE Capital Goods index dropped 0.25 per cent.
