Sensex Hold Gains, Bankex Up By 1.5%
The Indian markets held its gain in today’s session. Bankex led from the front, and provided good support to indices. The Nifty closed the day up by 9 points at 6313 and Sensex was 46 points higher at 21251.
The advance-decline ratio on the NSE was in the positive by day’s end, with 1616 shares in green and 1517 shares in the red zone.
Top Nifty Gainers: ICICI Bank gained 3.26% in today’s trades, followed by Tata Motors, JP Associates, Tata Steel and Axis Bank.
Top Nifty Losers: Kotak Mahindra Bank closed the day lower by 3.00%, followed by TCS, BHEL, Coal India and Asian Paints.
Most of the sectoral indices closed on a positive note. Bankex index was the top gainer for today’s session which surged by 194 points. Auto and Capital Goods indices also witnessed buying, up by 100 points each. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps also saw up-move by 29 points and 25 points respectively. Consumer Durables, Metals and Healthcare indices closed in positive territory. However Oil & Gas and IT saw some loss in today’s session.
The Asian markets closed on a positive note. Nikkei ended higher by 154 points. Hang Seng closed 104 points up. However KOSPI and Taiwan were in positive territory.
Buzzer: Tata Steel gained more than 2% on the bourses today and closed above the technical level of Rs 383. If the stock remains above this level, it may touch the Rs 400 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty Futures saw good strength at current level, may see more positive trend till its closes above 6290 level.
