Five S&P BSE Sensex Companies With Lowest Retail Holding

In our previous article, we mentioned the five S&P BSE Sensex companies in which the retail investors hold a significant percent of share. Today, we give you names of five companies from the Sensex 30 companies, in which the retail investor has least exposure.

To arrive at the below table, we have used the below mentioned filters:

  • We have considered S&P BSE Sensex companies.
  • We have sorted the table based on the lowest retail investor stake into the company.

Bharti Airtel (BAL): Bharti Airtel is among one of the leading telecommunication operators across the globe. It has operations in more than 20 countries in Asia and Africa. BAL's product range includes 2G, 3G, 4G wireless services, broadband services, DTH etc. Retail holding into the company, is lowest among the others at 1.13%. The market capitalization of BAL is Rs 130675 crore.

Coal India (CIL): CIL is a government undertaking “Maharatna” company, engaged in coal mining and operates through its 81 mining areas. Being in mining business, some issues which hamper the growth include hurdles in land acquisition, awaiting forest clearances etc. So, the retail investors have a very low exposure to the company and hold only 1.27% in CIL.

Oil And Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC): ONGC is engaged in oil exploration and production activity. The overall oil industry is going through a bad phase due to higher subsidy burden on the companies, which is in turn is eating up their huge chunk of profits. Retail investors do not have much exposure to this company, thereby holding only 1.55% share.

GAIL (India): GAIL, the utility gas company has operations across various sectors including gas transportation through pipeline, manufacturing of various chemicals and also operates in power generation, transmission and distribution. In this company, the retail holding stands at 1.7%. GAIL has market capitalization of is Rs 46921 crore.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL): The New Delhi based company makes 1.5 million cars every year. After facing slowdown in the past quarters, the Indian automobile sector has started showing some improvement on account of growth in Indian economy. However, the retail investors are not much optimistic and have lesser exposure in the script. They hold 1.96% in MSIL.
