SJVN:

Himachal Pradesh based, incorporated in the year 1988, Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) is a Mini Ratna & Schedule 'A' CPSU under the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India, is a joint venture between the Govt. of India & Govt. of Himachal Pradesh. It manufactures and supplies hydro-electric power and also plan, investigate, organize, execute, operate and maintain hydro-electric power projects. It is also venturing into wind power sector. It has around 1960 MW of hydro-electric power generation capacity, 1320 MW of thermal power project in Buxar and a massive 4000 MW ultra mega solar power plant in Sambhar, Rajasthan with some of its peers. It has 16% equity in this solar project. The net sales of the company stood at Rs 674.71 crore in June’2014 quarter as compared to Rs 540 crore in June’2013 quarter. The net profit of the company stood at Rs 424.29 crore in June’2014 quarter as against Rs 343.24 crore in June’2013 quarter. Its net profit margin stood at 52.8%.
 
Neyveli Lignite:
Chennai based, Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) is a Government of India undertaking company. The company's core business activities include Lignite Excavation and power generation using lignite excavated. NLC has three lignite mines and two thermal power stations. The net sales of the company stood at Rs 1510.45 crore in June’2014 quarter as compared to Rs 1559.57 crore in June’2013 quarter. The net profit of the company stood at Rs 334.05 crore in June’2014 quarter as compared to Rs 278.43 crore in June’2013 quarter. Its net profit margin stood at 21.48%.
 
Reliance Power:
Reliance Power is a part of the Reliance Group which develops, constructs and operates power projects domestically and internationally. The company has 4,525 MW of operational power generation assets. The projects under development include seven coal-fired projects to be fueled by reserves from captive mines and supplies from India and elsewhere; one gas-fired project; and twelve hydroelectric projects, six of them in Arunachal Pradesh, five in Himachal Pradesh and one in Uttarakhand. Besides these, Reliance Power is also developing coal bed methane (CBM) blocks. The net sales of the company stood at Rs 1753.07 crore in June’2014 quarter as compared to Rs 1122.85 crore in June’2013 quarter. The net profit of the company stood at Rs 244.35 crore in June’2014 quarter as compared to Rs 240.06 crore in June’2013 quarter. Its net profit margin stood at 15.42%.
 
NTPC:
Established in 1975, NTPC is one of the largest power companies in India. It was ranked 424th in Forbes Global 2000 in 2014. In May 2010, NTPC became a Maharatna company. It has a total installed capacity of 43128 MW including 17 joint venture with 17 coal based and 7 gas based station. It contributes more than one fourth of India’s total power generation. The net sales of the company stood at Rs 18086.47 crore in June’2014 quarter as compared to Rs 15612.89 crore in June’2013 quarter. The net profit of the company stood at Rs 2201.20 crore in June’2014 quarter as compared to Rs 2527.02 crore in June’2013 quarter. Its net profit margin stood at 14.69 %.
 
NHPC:
Formerly known as National Hydroelectric Power Company, NHPC was incorporated in 1975. It is a mini-ratna category I enterprise of Govt. of India.  Since its inception, NHPC has executed 17 projects with an installed capacity of 5702 MW on ownership basis including projects taken up in joint venture. NHPC has also executed five projects with an installed capacity of 89.35 MW on turnkey basis. The net sales of the company stood at Rs 2054.85 crore in June’2014 quarter as compared to Rs 1619.37 crore in June’2013 quarter. The net profit of the company stood at Rs 616.03 crore in June’2014 quarter as compared to Rs 719.93 crore in June’2013 quarter. Its net profit margin stood at 13.99 %.
