Kalpataru Power Transmission boosts by 6.01 per cent on new order

Kalpataru Power Transmission (KPTL) bagged two contracts worth Rs 781 crore. The share price of the company increased by 6.01 per cent on early trade of BSE and is trading at Rs 262.65 on intraday basis.

The company has secured one contract for transmission line projects in international geographies Malawi and Kuwait worth approximately Rs 594 crore. The second contract is for a pipeline project worth around Rs 187 crore from ONGC.

KPTL has an order book that currently stands at around Rs 3460 crore and is almost three times the size as compared to last year in the same period. According to the management, the company's business segments, client segments and geographies are contributing to growth.

In the first half of the fiscal year, KPTL bagged contracts worth Rs 880 crore in both domestic and international markets. The company secured five transmission line projects together valued at Rs 465 crore in Tanzania, Ukraine, Thailand, Tajikistan and Ethiopia. It also won a turnkey contract for 400-kv transmission line of approximately Rs 342 crore from the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation. KPTL also bagged a pipeline laying project worth 75 crore from GAIL.

On the financial front, KPTL's new order worth Rs 781 crore is 10.85 per cent of total revenue as of FY15. The company's standalone revenue increased by 9.99 per cent to Rs 1170 crore in Q1FY16 as compared to same period in previous financial year. Its net profit also rose by 15.65 per cent to Rs 48.41 crore in Q1FY16 on yearly basis.

KPTL's shareholding pattern indicates that FII holdings expanded by 5 basis points to 9.74 per cent while DII holdings contracted by 48 basis points to 21.3 per cent during the June 2015 quarter.

KPTL is a provider of Transmission and Distribution (T&D) solutions to 40 countries across the world. The Company has a varied portfolio which includes Cross Country Pipeline, Oil and Gas field Surface Facilities, Civil Infrastructure Projects, Power Generation (biomass) as well as Railway projects. KPTL also works on designs and engineering, procurement, fabrication, erection, installation and construction, testing and commissioning, post commissioning operation and maintenance.

KPTL owns three Fabrication plants for galvanized steel towers equipped with machineries and automated temperature controlled galvanizing baths, Testing Station and Research and Development (R&D) Centre. The company is currently catering to customers in Africa, the Middle East, Far East, Australia, the United States and Canada.
