Maruti Suzuki sets up 5 MW solar plant at Gurugram

Automobile manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, declared that it has specially made a 5 MW carport style photovoltaic solar power plant in Gurugram, India in a bid to reinforce its promise towards a greener future by progressing to create sustainable manufacturing.

The 5 MW solar power plant will function as a source to satisfy the internal energy requirements of the Gurugram facility by coordinating with the captive power plant. According to the claims of the company, the solar power project comes with an investment of over Rs 20 crore and will offset 5,390 tonnes of CO2 emissions yearly, for the next 25 years. It will also generate an output of 7,010 MWH of power annually.

The company had inaugurated its first solar power plant of 1 MW at Manesar back in 2014, which was later upgraded to 1.3 MW in 2018. After taking the latest project into account, the company's total solar power capacity now stands at 6.3 MW.

On Friday, Maruti Suzuki's stock closed at Rs 5,748.75, up by 0.97 per cent or Rs 55.45 per share. The 52-week high is recorded at Rs 7,755 and the 52-week low is Rs 4,002 on BSE.
