Equity MF categories giving best returns in last one year

In the last one year, despite all the volatility, equity markets performed quite well. During this period, S&P BSE Sensex gave returns of 62.53 per cent whereas the broader market barometer i.e. S&P BSE 500 gave 73 per cent returns. The crunch in supply & recovery in demand globally benefited the metal sector quite a bit and this can be depicted from the returns that it generated.

Meanwhile, in the last one year, the S&P BSE Metal index generated returns of a whopping 181 per cent. On the flip side, it was the S&P BSE Telecom index that was hit hard as in the last one year, it gave returns of around 5 per cent. However, looking at the category can prove to be a quick gauge as to which type of funds is doing well when you invest in a mutual fund. In this article, we would be finding out such categories. In order to come up with the same, we would be taking the assets under management (AUM) weighted returns for the last one year of a particular category.

Though international funds and thematic funds are at the lower end of the table, they gave double-digit returns.
