Overnight Digest: Stocks likely to be in focus on September 17

The domestic benchmark indices have settled on Thursday giving strong gains backed by heavyweights in banking stocks. Sensex touched the fresh all-time high of 59,204.29 level in intraday trade, whereas Nifty made a fresh peak of 17,644.60 level. The BSE Bankex index shined among the sectoral indices while the BSE IT index experienced the highest drag. 

Apart from Healthcare, IT, consumer durables and metals were the other sectors that ended in the green. The broader markets also cheered as the BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap indices hit their fresh record highs of 25,384.22 and 28,456.77, respectively.

Following stocks are likely to be in focus on Friday.

Power Finance Corporation - On Thursday, this state-owned company declared that it has issued bonds worth 300 million euros for seven years. The company said that issuance of bonds saw healthy participation from institutional investors across Asia and Europe from across 82 accounts and was oversubscribed 2.65 times. Keep a watch on this stock for Friday's trading session.

BHEL - The company announced on Thursday, the commissioning of India's largest floating solar photovoltaic plant in Andhra Pradesh. The 25-megawatt floating SPV project extends over an area of 100 acres. This stock is likely to be in focus on Friday.

Banking stocks - The banking stocks have been on a run today. BSE Bankex has outperformed the domestic indices as well as other sectoral indices by gaining 2.12 per cent on an intraday basis. IndusInd Bank rose by 10.46 per cent and has made a new 52-week high at Rs 1,186 per share. SBI, Federal Bank and Bandhan Bank were the other gaining stocks within the index. Watch out for the banking stocks on Friday.

Vodafone Idea - The stock of Vodafone Idea was on fire in Thursday's trading session. The Telecom sector reforms have acted as a big boost for this stock. Forming a strong bullish pattern on charts, the stock has sky-rocketed by 25.98 per cent in a single day. Keep a watch on this stock for any further strong movements. 

52-week high stocks - The stocks of Bharati Airtel, Larsen & Toubro, NTPC, ONGC, TCS and Titan have made fresh 52-week highs in Thursday's trading session. They are likely to be in focus on Friday.
