GE T&D India bags project from RRVPL

GE T&D India has bagged a technology-driven grid modernization project from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Ltd. (RRVPL) to implement grid initiatives and augmenting renewable energy in the state, which will benefit the people of Rajasthan.

RRVPL’s state-of-the-art power transmission road-map i.e. Smart Transmission Network and Asset Management System (STNAMS) was designed to integrate large-scale renewable energy and support managing existing and future power structure. The project includes an investment of Rs. 150 crore.

The total installed power capacity of Rajasthan is around 21.6 GW, out of which 34 per cent comes from renewable sources. The state plans to further increase its solar and wind generation capacity to 14.3 GW by 2022.

This RRVPL-STNAMS project will have 535 substations remotely connected to three control centres that include the main control centre in Jaipur, a back-up control centre in Jodhpur and an additional regional centre in Ajmer enabling remote visualization of power flow and asset health.

The management of GE’s grid solutions is optimistic that the transmission sector would benefit at the national level. The increase of renewable energy generation will power the remaining 24 per cent population of Rajasthan.

The stock of GE T&D India opened at Rs. 287.10 on Wednesday. It was up by 3.3 per cent to make intraday high of Rs. 297 and finally closed at Rs. 292 per share.
