Index trend and stocks in action May 21, 2019

Over the weekend, i.e. on Sunday, all traders had their eyes glued to their television sets to see what the exit polls have to say about the general elections. With all polls indicating the return of Modi-led NDA to power, the Nifty opened the session with a huge gap-up and, as the day progressed, the upmove got stronger and reached fresh lifetime high on a closing basis. Over the last four trading sessions, Nifty has gained over 720 points and has managed to close above all crucial short term and medium term moving average. Going ahead, the all-time high level of 11,856 will be closely monitored by the traders as sustaining above this level would further strengthen the bulls and the gates for the level of 12,000 would open up. On the downside, the level of 11,750 would be a crucial support for the Nifty.
