MUMBAI, February 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --
- The Civil Works of Jetty Construction is Expected to Complete by Q3 - 2017
- The Terminal Will Commence its Commercial Operation by Q3 - 2018
Work has started at Jaigarh port for the construction of jetty for the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) project of H-Energy Gateway Private Limited (H-Energy) located in the Ratnagiri District in the state of Maharashtra. In December 2016, H-Energy, the energy division of Hiranandani Group has given clearance to JSW Jaigarh Port Limited (Jaigarh Port) for constructing the jetty for its LNG re-gasification terminal project.
Jaigarh Port shall manage the construction of the jetty civil works and has appointed L&T Infrastructure Engineering Ltd., Chennai for jetty design. The civil construction works of the LNG jetty has been awarded to ITD Cementation, Mumbai. H-Energy and Jaigarh Port have jointly appointed COWI India Private Limited, Chennai to supervise the jetty construction.
The initial project will consist of a FSRU based LNG re-gasification terminal with a capacity of 4 MMTPA, which will ultimately be expanded to 8 MMTPA. The LNG import terminal is being developed under a sub-concession agreement between H-Energy and Jaigarh Port.
As per the agreement, Jaigarh Port shall be responsible for:
- Construction of the port facilities
- Maintenance of the common port infrastructure such as breakwater, navigation channel, berth basin; and
- Provide port related services to the HEGPL such as Pilotage and Towage to FSRU and LNG vessels, mooring services for the LNGC FSRU and LNG carriers.
All necessary studies for port operation such as navigation simulation, quantitative risk assessment, etc. have been carried out to ensure safe mooring of the LNG FSRU at the new jetty, bringing LNG carrier alongside the LNG FSRU to allow ship-to-ship transfer of LNG from the LNG carriers to the FSRU. In addition to building the marine infrastructure in the port of Jaigarh to import and re-gasify the LNG, the project scope also includes construction of gas pipeline of approximately 60 km in length connecting the Jaigarh terminal to the existing natural gas pipeline network at Dabhol.
Commenting on the significant development of the project, Mr. Darshan Hiranandani, CEO of H-Energy said, "H-Energy is committed to deliver a commercially viable and environmentally friendly solution to the country. The commencement of the jetty construction work at Jaigarh Port is a major step in the development of the LNG re-gasification project. Our strategic partnership and association with them is a perfect fit in the development of infrastructure for importing much needed natural gas into the country. The FSRU charter agreement will be the last major milestone in the project. We have 3 shortlisted bidders and are hopeful to finalize this soon."
The management of the engineering, procurement and construction of all facilities, other than the jetty civil works facilities is underway by H-Energy as well. This includes the gas unloading system, interface with the pipeline to Dabhol with the interface to the gas transmission grid. The terminal is being developed in accordance with the highest Indian and International engineering and safety standards. H-Energy plans to commence commercial operations of the LNG facilities at Jaigarh, after completing the necessary topside facilities, in Q3 - 2018.
Connected to the terminal, H-Energy's Jaigarh - Mangalore pipeline development is also making substantial progress on its regulatory approvals and route surveys. It will be a lifeline to the Konkan region and Coastal Karnataka for the provision of natural gas to industry and homes.
H-Energy through its gas marketing company is negotiating medium and short term LNG sourcing and downstream gas supply contracts providing end-to-end gas solutions to the downstream customers.
H-Energy Private Ltd. was established with a vision to contribute to the economic growth of the country by offering world-class, environmentally safe and sustainable energy solutions.
H-Energy is currently developing LNG re-gasification terminals and cross-country natural gas pipelines on the west and east coast of India. These infrastructure projects will entail investments up to USD 2.0 billion. H-Energy through its marketing arm will also be involved in sourcing of LNG and marketing of re-gasified LNG to downstream consumers through these projects.
H-Energy is developing a jetty-based FSRU re-gasification project on the west coast of India located at Jaigarh port in the state of Maharashtra. The port is equipped with breakwater and is operational throughout the year. In addition to the project on the west coast, H-Energy is also developing a 637 km natural gas pipeline from Jaigarh to Mangalore passing through the coastal towns of Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Goa, Karwar and Udupi. The re-gasified LNG flowing through this pipeline will act as a key source of clean energy for industries, homes and vehicles in these coastal towns and cities.
