NALCO’s profitability dampens despite production boost in Q1FY17
National Aluminium Company (NALCO) has declared its Q1FY17 on Monday after market hours. The company’s revenue has increased by 3.87 per cent to Rs 1549 crore in Q1FY17 as compared to same period in previous fiscal. Its EBITDA has reduced by 14.85 per cent to Rs 195 in Q1FY17 on a year on year(YoY) basis. NALCO’s EBITDA margin has contracted by 277 basis points to 12.59 per cent in Q1FY17 as compared to same period in previous financial year. The company’s net profit also has dropped by 22.03 per cent to Rs 139 crore in Q1FY17 on a YoY basis. Its net profit margin has contracted by 298 basis points to 8.98 per cent in Q1FY17 as compared to same period in previous financial year. NALCO’s profitability margins have dropped due to low market realisation.
On the segmental revenue front, NALCO has earned 44.2 per cent from chemicals and 54.64 per cent from aluminium during Q1FY17.
On production front, NALCO’s bauxite production has increased by 46 per cent to 17.04 lakh tonnes, alumina hydrate production has risen by 35 per cent to 5.24 lakh tonnes, aluminium production has increased by 10 per cent to 94496 tonnes, power generation also has risen by 10 per cent to 1489 million units in Q1FY17 on a yearly basis.
The share price of NALCO declined by 5.05 per cent on bourses; and closed at Rs 47 on Monday.
