In April 2022, India's wholesale pricing index (WPI) inflation rate was 15.08 per cent, up from 10.74 per cent in April 2021. On BSE, the shares of India's largest insurance company, Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), closed at Rs 875.45, down by 7.75 per cent from the issue price of Rs 949.
BSE Sensex closed with outstanding gains today, skyrocketing by 1,344 points to close at 54,318 levels. BSE Midcap index too shot up 555 points to end the day at 22,700 levels. Likewise, BSE Smallcap index zoomed 712 points to close at 26,318 levels. The top stocks on BSE Sensex today were Tata Steel, Reliance Industries, ITC, Wipro, and ICICI Bank. However, no Top Losers were recorded today.
Nifty 50 ended at 16,259 levels, appreciating by 417 points only. Similarly, Bank Nifty improved by 704 points and closed the day at 34,301 levels. The top gaining stocks were Hindalco Industries, Tata Steel, Coal India, JSW Steel, and ONGC. There were no stocks that closed in negative today on Nifty 50.
The total stocks traded today were 3,462, out of which, 2,624 advanced and 713 stocks declined. There were 125 stocks that were unchanged. The number of stocks that were locked in the upper circuit was 447 while 152 stocks hit their lower circuits today. The number of stocks that hit a new 52-week high is 49 while 52 stocks made a fresh 52-week low today.
