Market watch: What does the Futures and Options market suggest about trade on July 01?

The Nifty 50 put call ratio (PCR) closed at 1.06 for the day.

On a monthly options expiry day, the Indian equity market ended flat after a choppy session amid weak global trends. Sensex ended with a cut of 8 points. Nifty 50 opened at 15774.50 against the previous close of 15799.10 showing a loss of 25 points, however, it closed with a cut of 18.85 points or 0.12 per cent at 15780.25. In today’s trade the best performing index was NIFTY BANK it was up by 0.47 per cent. This is followed by NIFTY FINANCIAL SERVICES 25/50, which was up by 0.46 per cent. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY METAL. It is down by 1.99 per cent. Out of the total 15.0 companies forming part of the index, all closed in red. Nifty VIX closed marginally down compared to yesterday’s closing at 21.84. 

 

Activity on the F&O front for weekly expiry on July 7 shows 16000 to act as a strong resistance now. The highest call open interest contract of 63820 stood at this strike price. The second-highest call option open interest 62060 for Nifty 50 stood at a strike price of 15800. In terms of the highest addition of open interest in the call options front, it was at 15800 in the last trading session. A total of 40280 open interest was added at this strike price.

 

In terms of put activity, the highest put writing was seen at a strike price of 15800, where 38170 open interest was added today, followed by a 15500 strike price where (35392) open interest was added. Highest total put open interest (59019) stood at a strike price of 15800. This is followed by a strike price of 15500, which saw a total put option open interest of 53639 contracts.

 

The Nifty 50 put call ratio (PCR) closed at 1.06 for the day. A PCR above 1 is considered bullish while a PCR below 1 is considered bearish. 

Max pain at the end of today's trade for weekly expiry on July 7 stands at 15800.
