Infosys and Tennis Australia have extended their eight-year partnership into 2026, unveiling a suite of AI-first innovations powered by Infosys Topaz. This year’s collaboration focuses on broadening the sport's reach through generative and agentic AI, aiming to elevate the experience for fans, players, and coaches alike. By integrating these technologies at scale, the partnership continues to push the boundaries of digital engagement and responsible innovation within the global sporting landscape.
A major highlight of the tournament is the introduction of MatchFeel, a tactile technology designed for blind and visually impaired audiences. This pilot program uses real-time match data to convert on-court action into haptic feedback on a physical surface. By utilising a magnetic ring and vibration patterns to simulate ball movement and speed, fans can physically feel the rallies as they happen, providing a more inclusive way to follow the live drama of the Australian Open.
On-site at Melbourne Park, fans can interact with Rally, a generative AI-powered humanoid mascot located in the Infosys Fan Zone. Rally offers several engaging features, including match insights through the "Ask Rally" interface and playful tennis-themed predictions. Beyond the mascot, new tools like "Keys to the Match" simplify complex statistics into clear tactical cues, helping fans understand player strengths and serve dominance through simplified AI-driven narratives.
The digital transformation also encompasses sustainability and education through the climate-active Fan Zone and the Future Leaders Program. Utilising Infosys Springboard, the program introduces students to the intersection of technology and sports, fostering digital skills and leadership. Combined with advanced video analytics for players and AI-generated highlights for media, these initiatives ensure that the 2026 tournament remains at the forefront of the digital sporting era.
