A perfect end to expiry as Nifty gains 230 points; India VIX crashes 7 per cent!

Market update at 3.30 pm:  This expiry couldn’t end any better as Nifty climbed 1.37 per cent to close at 17,401. Meanwhile, Sensex gained over700 points.  

India VIX crashed about 7 per cent for the second straight day. In two trading days, VIX has fallen over 15 per cent, which is an indication that the markets might have bottomed out.    

All the sectoral indices ended in green while the top gainers include Adani Ports and HDFC, which surged about 4.17 per cent & 3.85 per cent, respectively.  

Nevertheless, when the overall market ends on a good note, we can expect further rallies in the times to come!   

 

Market update at 1.15 pm: Nifty is holding onto its gains as it trades above 17,300. Sensex is up by 0.9 per cent whereas, Nifty Bank is trading flat.  

HDFC turns out to be the top gainer, up by 3.67 per cent, followed by Power Grid Corp and BPCL. On the other hand, the top losers include banking stocks such as ICICI Bank and Axis Bank, which are down by 1.5 per cent each. Besides, India VIX lowers by a per cent.

Among sectoral indices, Nifty IT is up by one and a half per cent while PSU Bank index is down by 0.35 per cent.   

 

Market update at 10.15 am: Nifty started the day with a flat opening and soon tested the levels of 17,300. Power Grid Corp is up by more than 3 per cent.  

India VIX is slightly up today and is just below 20. Nifty Metal and the banking indices are marginally down whereas, all other indices are positive. Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap are up by 0.3 per cent & 0.2 per cent, respectively.   

Gold is up by half a per cent whereas, Crude Oil is slightly down. Overall, the initial hour of the expiry day is less volatile, and we can expect more action as the day progresses.
