After rallying for four consecutive sessions, Indian equity benchmark indices are expected to begin the session on a quieter note this Monday, June 30, 2025. Despite the anticipated subdued start, one stock that is likely to remain in focus is Adani Green Energy—the renewable energy arm of the Adani Group—due to a significant milestone achieved by the company.

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), India’s largest renewable energy company, has surpassed a remarkable operational capacity of 15,539.9 megawatts (MW), making it the fastest and largest capacity addition in the country’s renewable energy sector to date. The portfolio comprises approximately 11,005.5 MW of solar, 1,977.8 MW of wind, and 2,556.6 MW of wind-solar hybrid capacity. Notably, AGEL is the first and only renewable energy company in India to reach this scale, with most of the capacity developed through greenfield projects.

This operational capacity is capable of powering nearly 7.9 million households and can provide clean energy to thirteen Indian states, including the entire northeast region. This milestone also coincides with AGEL’s 10th anniversary of delivering clean and affordable energy across India with unmatched speed and scale.

Khavda: The Epicenter of Clean Energy Revolution

AGEL is currently developing the world’s largest renewable energy plant with a capacity of 30,000 MW in Khavda, Kutch, Gujarat. Spanning 538 square kilometers, the site is five times the size of Paris and will be visible from space. Once completed, it will become the largest power plant globally, across all energy sources. AGEL has already operationalized 5,355.9 MW at Khavda, reflecting rapid progress toward India's national target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

Leadership Commentary

Commenting on the achievement, Ashish Khanna, CEO of AGEL, said: “Surpassing the 15,000 MW milestone is a moment of immense pride. AGEL is committed to setting new benchmarks in innovation and operational excellence—proving that clean energy can be delivered at an unprecedented scale and speed. Our goal is to accelerate from 15,000 MW to 50,000 MW by 2030, staying true to our mission to power India and the world with sustainable energy solutions.”
