Bajaj Auto reports April sales volumes

Bajaj Auto reported a mixed sales performance in April 2019. The sales volumes of motorcycles demonstrated reasonably good growth; however, those of commercial vehicles showcased de-growth.

Under the motorcycles segment, the domestic sales volumes rose 3 per cent YoY to 2,05,875 units in April 2019 from 2,00,742 units in April 2018. On the exports front, the company reported the highest ever sales of 1,60,393 units in April 2019 as against 1,48,875 units in April 2018, marking a YoY growth of 8 per cent. In total, the sales rose 5 per cent YoY to 3,66,268 units in April 2019 from 3,49,617 units in April 2018.

The commercial vehicles segment spiralled downwards in April 2019. On the domestic front, sales volumes sank 9 per cent YoY to 26,229 units in April 2019 from 28,722 units in April 2018. Export numbers showcased de-growth of 16 per cent at 30,818 units in April 2019 as against 36,829 units in April 2018. In total, sales volumes plummeted 13 per cent YoY to 57,047 units in April 2019 in comparison to 65,551 units in April 2018.

Overall, on a total basis, the exports rose 3 per cent as the company marked the highest ever sales of 1,91,211 units in April 2019 versus 1,85,704 units in April 2018. Domestic volumes registered a modest growth of 1 per cent at 2,32,104 units in April 2019 as against 2,29,464 units in April 2018. In total, the sales volumes climbed 2 per cent to 4,23,315 units in April 2019 from 4,15,168 units in April 2018.

On Thursday, the shares of Bajaj Auto opened at Rs. 3,008.70 and hit a high and low of Rs. 3,020.55 and Rs. 2,965.80, respectively. At 11:57 am, the stock was trading at Rs. 3,011.35, up 0.60 per cent.
