At day end on Monday, the markets were seen extending their gains from the past week , even as the fear of recession takes deep roots in the markets’ sentiments.

 Asia Pacific markets are also gaining, with Japan’s Nikkei index trading 1.43 per cent higher at the 26,871.27 level whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index is also up by 2.35per cent, and the Shanghai Composite is also up by 0.88 per cent

The dollar is trading at Rs 78.34 whereas the crude oil is also higher by 0.16 per cent at $107.83 per barrel. 

European markets have also bounced by almost a per cent each, following the positive global sentiment. 

At market close, Sensex was 53,161.28, up by 0.82 per cent or 433.30 points, whereas the Nifty 50 was at 15,832.05, up by 132.80 points or 0.85 per cent. 

The BSE Smallcap index gained 1.57 per cent and was at the 24,905.95 level, up by 384.01 points. The Top Gainers of the index were Dhanvarsha Finvest, GOCL Corporation, Likhitha Infrastructure, Yash Pakka, and  Dharamsi Morarji Chemicals.Each of these scrips was up by 15 per cent today.
