Market watch: What does the Futures and Options market suggest about trade on June 30?

The Nifty 50 put call ratio (PCR) closed at 1.01 for the day.

Equity market snapped the winning streak of the last few days today. A negative handover from the US market due to a 16-month fall in consumer sentiment led to a bad start for our market. Nifty 50 opened at 15701.70 against the previous close of 15850.20, which means a gap down of 148.50 points. It closed with a fall of 51.1 points or 0.32 per cent at 15799.1. In today’s trade, the best performing index was NIFTY OIL & GAS which was up by 1.02 per cent. This is followed by NIFTY METAL, which was up by 0.24 per cent. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY IT. It is down by -1.29 per cent. Out of the total 10.0 companies forming part of the index, all companies closed in red. Nifty VIX gained further in today’s trade and closed at 21.9 with a gain of 2.09 per cent.  

 

Activity on the F&O front for weekly expiry tomorrow shows 16000 to act as a strong resistance now. The highest call open interest contract of 232973.0 stood at this strike price. The second-highest call option open interest 175381.0 for Nifty 50 stood at a strike price of 16200. In terms of the highest addition of open interest in the call options front, it was at 16100 in the last trading session. A total of 51322 open interest was added at this strike price.

 

In terms of put activity, the highest put writing was seen at a strike price of 15700, where 38127.0 open interest was added today, followed by 15600 strike price where (36079.0) open interest was added. The highest total put open interest (178821.0) stood at a strike price of 15500. This is followed by a strike price of 15700, which saw a total put option open interest of 158260.0 contracts.

 

The Nifty 50 put call ratio (PCR) closed at 1.01 for the day. A PCR above 1 is considered bullish while a PCR below 1 is considered bearish.

 

Max pain at the end of today's trade for weekly expiry on 30-Jun-2022 stands at 15800.
