Nifty closed around day’s high, Sensex jumped more than 600 points; Reliance industries emerged as the star performer

S&P BSE Sensex jumped nearly 208 points higher and closed at 62,501.69 level. Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Small cap 100 ended strong around 0.81 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively

 Market update at 3.30 PM:  

Nifty witnessed strong follow-up buying after the strong recovery of last trading session. It closed 178.20 points higher at 18,499.35 level. 

S&P BSE Sensex jumped nearly 208 points higher and closed at 62,501.69 level. Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Small cap 100 ended strong around 0.81 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively. 

Shree cements, Reliance industries and Sun pharma were the top gainers while ONGC, Grasim and Bajaj-Auto were the top losers amongst Nifty 50 stocks.      

Nifty registered a breakout of continuation pattern and closed at level, can expect follow up buying in upcoming sessions.

Market update at 2.20 PM: Bulls rejoice on D-street as strong buying interest is seen across the broader market. All the sectors have been trading positively, with media, FMCG, metals and IT being the top performers. Even the broader market shines well as Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap gain 0.60 per cent each.

Market update at 11:15 AM: Indices have witnessed strong positive sentiment on the first day of June monthly expiry. The NSE Nifty 50 index has surged half a per cent to trade above 18,400 levels, while the S&P BSE Sensex has jumped 300 points. Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap have each risen half a per cent as well.

Reliance Industries, along with Hindalco and Tech Mahindra, are the top gainers from the Nifty 50 stocks, while ONGC, Power Grid Corporation, and Grasim Industries are weak.

About 1,248 stocks are advancing compared to 716 stocks that are declining, showcasing a positive market breadth. This broader market rally is mainly led by IT, PSU Banks, FMCG, and Media stocks. India VIX has crashed over 5 percent to 11.81 levels.

The 18,350 level has acted as a strong support zone for Nifty and shall be in focus for the upcoming trading session, while the next resistance is now at 18,500 levels.

 

Market update at 9.30 AM: Indices have been trading on a positive note, thanks to strong buying interest in PSU Banks and IT. NSE Nifty 50 is up quarter per cent to trade at 18,350 levels while S&P BSE Sensex has gained 150 points so far. Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap have jumped 0.30 per cent each.  

India VIX has plunged 5 per cent on the first trading session of the June monthly expiry.  

 

Pre- Market Update: Dow Jones Industrial Average witnessed strong recovery from lower levels and lost 35 points to close at 32,764.66-level. Nasdaq 100 Index outperformed by rallying 2.46 per cent to close at 13,938.53 level. 

Precious metals like Gold and Silver witnessed selloff and dropped 0.8 per cent and 1.4 per cent respectively. Meanwhile Brent crude futures witnessed strong profit booking at higher levels and closed around 2.8 per cent.

On Thursday, both participants Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) and Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) supported the rally as they bought 589.10 crore and 338.44 crore respectively in equity segment. 

Now, according to SGX Nifty, Nifty is expected to open gap down more than 30 points.
