NTPC to raise Rs 1,000 crore via bond issue

The electric power distribution company, NTPC has decided to raise Rs 1,000 crore on July 31, 2020, through a private placement of unsecured non-convertible bonds.

The proceeds from this fundraising will be utilised for funding of capital expenditure, refinancing of existing loans, and other general corporate purposes.

On Wednesday, the company has also said that it has generated 977.07 million units (MU) of electricity on July 28, the highest-ever generated in a single day. The company said that this includes the production of its associate companies and joint venture (JV) companies.

Five of its power stations performed exceptionally well in power generation and achieved a 100 per cent plant load factor. Earlier, on March 12, 2019, NTPC had set a record for generating the most power in a day. On that day, the company generated 935.46 million units of electricity.

The total installed capacity of NTPC is 62,910 MW. NTPC Group has a total of 70 power stations. Of these, 24 are coal-based, seven are gas/liquid fuel-based and one is hydro while, 13 are renewable energy. Besides, there are also 25 partners and JV power plants.

At 09:44, the stock was trading nearly at Rs 88.70, up by 0.68 per cent on BSE.
