October Auto sales numbers, Maruti sales rise
The auto players continue to go through rough drive except Maruti for the month of October 2019.
Maruti Suzuki, leader in passenger car space, has seen some revival in the auto sales for the month of October 2019. It announced an increase of 4.5 per cent on YoY basis in total sales for the month of October. It sold total 153435 units in October 2019 which includes 144277 units in domestic market and 9158 units in exports. It has registered a growth of 2.3 per cent YoY in sales of Domestic Passenger Vehicles. Also, export sales grew by 5.7 per cent YoY. Company has recently launched two new models: XL6 launched in August 2019 and S-Presso in September 2019.
Bajaj Auto posted a decline in sales by 9 per cent in the month of October 2019 with total number of units sold at 463208. Sale of motorcycles declined by 8 per cent YoY and CV sales declined by 13 per cent yoy.
Ashok Leyland, which offers a range of trucks and heavy vehicles, posted poor numbers for the month of October. The total number of vehicles sold in October 2019 was 9857, showing 35 per cent YoY decline. Domestic sales declined by 37 per cent with sales of 9074 vehicles in October 2019. Total sales of M&HCV declined by 48 per cent YoY and sale of LCV declined by 12 per cent YoY.
Escorts, leader in the Agri machinery, posted 1.6 per cent yoy rise in total sales for October 2019. Domestic tractor sales in October 2019 were at 13,034 tractors registering a growth of 1.3 percent against 12,867 tractors in October 2018. Export for the month of October 2019 at 319 tractors registered a growth of 16.8 percent as against 273 tractors sold in October 2018.
Looking at the stock movements of the auto makers, the stock of Maruti Suzuki increased nearly 1 per cent whereas Ashok Leyland declined by nearly 2 per cent. Stock of Escorts jumped nearly 3 per cent and Bajaj Auto increased nearly 1 per cent on the BSE.
