On Wednesday, in a tight competition between bulls and bears, the bears finally showed a winning streak and the benchmark indices closed higher. For the domestic market, the major event investors are eyeing this week is the RBI’s policy meeting outcome. 
 

The global indicators favoured bears as most Asian as well as Western markets were trading over concerns of rising geopolitical tension between the US and China.  

On Monday, the domestic equity markets commenced the week on a positive note and ended with gains of nearly one per cent. Supportive global cues coupled with buying across sectors pushed the benchmarks to end higher. 

Ahead of the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy outcome on Wednesday, the investors chose to remain cautious in today's trading session. The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex slipped 498 points, or 0.89 per cent, to end at 55,268, while the broader Nifty50 settled at 16,484 level, down 147 points or 0.88 per cent.

On Friday, the benchmark indices ended on a positive note for the sixth trading session as investors took optimistic clues that the foreign funds (FIIs) are back in action in the Indian stock markets. FIIs are seen to be net buyers on all the trading days of this week.

On Thursday, the domestic benchmark indices closed on a positive note taking cues from FII buying, which helped them to handle the downward pressure from global markets. 

On Wednesday, Indian equity benchmarks jumped clocking gains across sectors taking cues from strength across global markets as robust corporate earnings in the US relaxed investors' minds about slowing growth due to steep hikes in interest rates. Oil & gas, financial, IT, and auto shares turned out to be the biggest thrusts lifting the headline indices.

It was a happy Monday on the bourses as markets all over the world were trading in positive territory despite volatility and rising inflation. Sensex surged 1.41 per cent to end at 54,521.15 whereas Nifty 50 clocked in 229.30 points or 1.43 per cent to close at the 16,278.50 level.    

The domestic equity benchmarks, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 continued their losses in a consecutive fourth as the financial and IT pockets erased the gains in the second half of the session. 

On Monday, the Indian equity markets kept an eye on the quarterly results. The weak start of IT earnings lowered the sentiments which made benchmark indices start the session on  a negative note.
