Indices traded higher throughout the day as Nifty climbed 1.10 per cent while Sensex gained over 630 points. Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap rose 0.19 per cent & 0.81 per cent, respectively.  

Recording gains in PSU and select private banks, financial services, and select heavyweight stocks, the benchmark indices closed higher rising towards the end of Tuesday's trading session. Sensex was up 246.47 points or 0.45 per cent at 54,767.62 level whereas Nifty gained 62 points or 0.38 per cent at 16,340.50 level. 

It was a happy Monday on the bourses as markets all over the world were trading in positive territory despite volatility and rising inflation. Sensex surged 1.41 per cent to end at 54,521.15 whereas Nifty 50 clocked in 229.30 points or 1.43 per cent to close at the 16,278.50 level.    

On the last day of the week, benchmark indices zoomed towards the end of the session, closing higher for the first time this week.  Sensex advanced 344.63 points while Nifty gained 116.25 points at the close. 

The domestic equity benchmarks, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 continued their losses in a consecutive fourth as the financial and IT pockets erased the gains in the second half of the session. 

On Wednesday, striking out the early gains, the domestic benchmark indices ended lower with Sensex slipping around 372 points and Nifty closing below the 16,000 level.  

The benchmark indices ended Tuesday's trading session in red for the second consecutive day with Sensex slipping more than 500 points and Nifty closing below 16,100. About 1,436 shares have advanced, 1,784 shares declined, and 157 shares are unchanged. 

On Monday, the Indian equity markets kept an eye on the quarterly results. The weak start of IT earnings lowered the sentiments which made benchmark indices start the session on  a negative note. 

On Friday, the benchmark indices opted to trade in a range-bound manner with Sensex trading within a range of 348 points and Nifty advancing 118 points during the trading session. 

For the second straight trading session, the bulls took charge over the benchmark indices as declining commodity prices lowered inflationary concerns.
