The global markets plunged 3 per cent as the fears of an impending recession were confirmed by the inflation data, released by the US for the month of April.

On Tuesday, the headline equity indices i.e. Sensex and Nifty ended on a lower note after gaining almost 0.50 per cent in the afternoon session.  The European markets have opened in the green whereas the Rupee crossed the Rs 77 per dollar mark and is trading at Rs 77.33.  

On Tuesday, the headline equity indices i.e. Sensex and Nifty ended on a higher note by regaining their lost levels of Monday.  

BSE Small-cap index outperformed broader markets, recording a gain of 1.54 per cent, closing at 29,950.60.

On Monday, the frontline equity indices, i.e., Sensex and Nifty ended on a higher note, a day before the announcement of the Union Budget 2022. 

At close, the Sensex was up by 813.94 points or 1.42 per cent at 58,014.17 and the Nifty was up by 237.90 points or 1.39 per cent at 17,339.85. 

BSE Smallcap index is trading at 20,337.77, up by 2.46 per cent.

BSE Small-cap index held its ground and outperformed broader markets by closing at 30,551.15, marginally up by 0.03 per cent.
