It was a merry Monday after all on the bourses as the core equity indices i.e., Sensex and Nifty 50 rose generously and were trading more than 2 per cent higher in the morning session!  

 Around noon on Tuesday, the core equity indices i.e., Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading marginally higher amidst mixed global cues.The Asia Pacific markets dipped as the US president announced tariff cuts on Chinese goods. 

Nifty managed to close above 16200 after a sharp sell-off in the last one hour. In the end, the benchmark index closed lower by 0.32 per cent while Sensex lost about 37 points.

On Thursday, the equity markets extended their gains after opening in green and ended comfortably higher.  

On Tuesday, the Indian markets ended lower after clocking two-month highs in the previous trading session, as investors booked profits in HDFC Bank and HDFC along with other heavyweights in the index.  

On Wednesday, the benchmark indices ended higher with Nifty closing above the 16900 mark led by buying seen across the sectors. The equity markets are eyeing the outcome of the FED meeting as the current geopolitical developments are creating further inflationary pressure in the global market and it is crucial to take into account the view of central banks.

On Tuesday, breaking the two-day losing streak and experiencing purchasing in frontline indices, Indian equities recorded gains in the afternoon session, staying near the day's high point. The report indicating that India and the UAE are set to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) on February 18, uplifted the sentiments.

On Friday, the benchmark indices broke three-day gaining momentum and ended lower with Sensex and Nifty contracting 1.31 per cent each.

The core benchmark indices erased the day's gains and entered the red territory towards the end of the trading session as investors preferred to lighten positions ahead of the weekend and the upcoming Union Budget.

On an MTD basis, the shares of Zomato plummeted about 34 per cent, which is greater than most of the fintech companies. Moreover, it has hit its fresh 52-week low today.
