At 11.30 am on Monday, the headline equity indices, i.e. Sensex and Nifty 50 tanked 1.50 per cent each, eroding all the gains of the past two weeks.

At 12.30 pm on Thursday, the headline equity indices, i.e. Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading higher as investors, all over the world, are eyeing Fed Chairman Jerome Powell’s speech at Jackson Hole Meet today. 

At the time of the closing bell on Thursday, the markets eroded the day’s gains, ahead of the monthly expiry, dragged by IT, FMCG, and pharma stocks.  

 At day end, Sensex closed at 58,774.72, losing 310.71 points or 0.53 per cent whereas Nifty 50 was at 17,522.45, down by 82.50 points or 0.47 per cent.

 At 11 am on Wednesday, the headline equity indices, i.e. Sensex and Nifty 50 are trading marginally lower as the US market continues to bleed for the third consecutive day.  

The markets witnessed a volatile session today, owing to the mixed market sentiment only to end higher by 0.50 per cent. 

Sensex closed at 59,031.30, up by 0.44 per cent whereas Nifty 50 ended higher by 0.50 per cent at the 17,577.50 level.  

 As a result, Asia Pacific markets also plunged sharply with Japan’s Nikkei losing 1.22 per cent whereas China’s Shanghai Composite trading flat at 3,274.22, lower by 0.12 per cent.  

In what seems to be the greatest fall in over two months, the markets tanked 1.50 per cent, owing to a panic sell-off by investors after Fed Chairman’s comments on an aggressive rate hike in the upcoming meeting for September.
