Power Generation Company Commissions 281 MW Organic RE Capacity and Signs PPA for 250 MW Wind Project

JSW Energy Limited announced on June 5, 2025, the successful commissioning of 281 MW of organic renewable energy capacity, significantly boosting its operational portfolio. This new capacity comprises 215 MW of solar and 66 MW of wind power, bringing the company's total installed capacity to 12,499 MW. This timely addition is expected to leverage the peak wind season, contributing substantially to the company's overall renewable energy output. With these additions, JSW Energy's installed wind capacity now stands at 3,482 MW, solar at 1,968 MW, and hydro at 1,391 MW, elevating the share of renewables to 55 per cent of its total capacity.
In a further development, JSW Renew Energy Three Limited, a step-down subsidiary, has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited. This agreement is for a 250 MW STU-connected wind project, located in Maharashtra, with a tariff of Rs 3.65/kWh for 25 years. The project is anticipated to commence commercial operations within the next 24 months, further solidifying JSW Energy's commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint.
JSW Energy currently boasts a total locked-in generation capacity of 29.9 GW, which includes 12.5 GW already operational, 12.4 GW under construction across wind, thermal, and hydro projects, and a pipeline of 4.9 GW. The company also holds a significant locked-in energy storage capacity of 29.3 GWh, comprising 26.4 GWh from hydro pumped storage projects and 2.9 GWh from battery energy storage systems. Under its "Strategy 3.0" growth roadmap, JSW Energy is strategically positioned to achieve a 30 GW generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by FY 2030, with an ambitious target of achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050, reinforcing its leadership in India's energy transition.
