The announcement, made on May 27, 2025, sparked strong investor interest, with Shriram AMC’s share price surging over 10 per cent. The stock has declined by 17.84 per cent on a year-to-date basis, it has delivered a return of 75.77 per cent in the last 12 months.

The transaction also increases the total promoter shareholding in Shriram AMC from 62.55 per cent to 71.17 per cent. Sanlam’s entry is expected to bring enhanced capabilities to Shriram AMC, especially in its unique "quantamental" approach, which blends data-driven quantitative models with traditional fundamental analysis. This method aims to create superior risk-adjusted returns through sophisticated investment processes.

Kartik Jain, Managing Director and CEO of Shriram AMC, emphasized that the strategic tie-up goes beyond capital infusion. “This partnership is more than capital—it’s a strong endorsement of our quantamental approach that fuses data science with fundamental insights. Sanlam’s expertise will help us innovate products, strengthen performance, and expand placement across customer segments,” he said.

The Shriram Group had earlier secured a 23 per cent investment in 2022 from Mission1 Investments LLC. Its Managing Partner and CIO, Gaurav Patankar, welcomed Sanlam as a co-promoter, expressing optimism about long-term value creation.

Founded in 1994, Shriram AMC offers a mix of hybrid, equity, and debt mutual fund schemes. It belongs to the Small-Cap segment but is gaining prominence due to its listed status and evolving product strategy.

Sanlam Group, established in 1918 and listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, operates across 31 countries. It manages over $80 billion in assets and offers financial solutions across insurance, investment, health, credit, and wealth management.
