Stocks below Rs 100: Only buyers seen in these scrips on March 9

At 11.45 am on Wednesday, the core equity indices Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading higher amidst the increasing tension between Russia and Ukraine, as the efforts to evacuate people from Ukraine take pace.

On the other hand, US President Joe Biden has announced an oil import ban on Russia, along with major companies like Pepsi, McDonald’s, and Adidas suspending their operations in Russia. 

The Sensex was at 53,997.32 up by 573.23 points or 1.07 per cent, while Nifty was at 16,163.95, up by 149.05 points or 0.93 per cent from the last trading session.       

On the BSE, 2,447 shares have advanced, 713 shares declined, whereas 123 shares are unchanged.             

The top five gainers in the Nifty 50 pack are Tech Mahindra, Reliance Industries, Adani Ports, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, and Sun Pharmaceuticals. Meanwhile, the top five stocks pulling down the index are Power Grid Corporation of India, Tata Steel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, NTPC, and ONGC.     

BSE Smallcap index is trading at 26,369.59, up by 1.34 per cent. The top five gainers are Take Solutions, IOL chemicals, TTK Healthcare, Thomas Cook India, and Dwarikesh Sugar Industries. Each of these stocks gained more than 15 per cent. Similarly, the top five stocks pulling the index down include Brightcom Group, Bajaj Electricals, Kennametal India, DB Realty, TVS Srichakra, and Excel Realty N Infra.  

Most of the sectoral indices on the BSE were trading in the green with BSE IT, BSE Metal, BSE Energy, BSE Telecom being up by more than 1 per cent. Only BSE Metal was trading in the red and was down by 0.94 per cent.
