Promoter holding denotes the percentage of shares held by the promoters and the promoter group in any company. Increase in the promoter shareholding shows the confidence of promoters in the company.

According to SEBI's rules, in any publicly listed company the minimum public shareholding should be 25 per cent, so the maximum promoter shareholding can be 75 per cent.

Majority of the companies have reported their shareholding pattern for the quarter ending March 2019. We have compared the promoter shareholding of top 5 companies which showed an increase or decrease in holding in this quarter compared to the quarter ended December 2018.
