Top three stocks that saw heavy demand from buyers in the pre-opening session today

These three stocks were the top gainers on BSE in the pre-opening session today.

At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in red with a loss of 357.78 points or 0.6 per cent. By 9.15 am, the index further strengthened to 59,193.72, signifying gains of 233.12 points or 0.40 per cent. 

On the sectoral front, in the pre-opening session, metals and power were trading flat whereas auto surged by over half a per cent. 

Meanwhile, ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company, Shriram City Union Finance, and Ahluwalia Contracts (India) Ltd emerged as the Top Gainers of BSE in the pre-opening session today. 

ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd, an S&P BSE 100 company, surged 3.94 per cent to trade at Rs 1,195 apiece. On Tuesday, the company announced the audited financial results for the quarter and half-year that ended September 30, 2022. As per the exchange filing, the gross direct premium income (GDPI) of the company stood at Rs 10,555 crore in H1FY2023 as against Rs 8,613 crore in H1FY2022, a growth of 22.6 per cent. This growth was higher than the industry growth of 15.3 per cent. The company also declared an interim dividend of Rs 4.50 per equity share, representing 45 per cent of the face value of Rs 10 each for the financial year ended March 31, 2023. 

Shriram City Union Finance Ltd, an S&P BSE 500 company, rallied 3.25 per cent to trade at Rs 1,847.90 apiece. A meeting of the company’s board of directors is scheduled to be held on October 21 (Friday) to inter alia consider & approve unaudited consolidated financial results for the quarter and a half year that ended September 30, 2022, of the company. 

Ahluwalia Contracts (India) Ltd, an S&P BSE Smallcap company, climbed 3.15 per cent to trade at Rs 431.95 apiece. On October 15, the company reported an order win of a project worth Rs 110.67 crore for additional construction work at Medical College & Hospital in Bongaigaon (Assam). Besides that, no significant announcement has been made by the company of late.
