Watch out for these penny stocks locked in the upper circuit on August 14

In morning trade, both the Sensex and Nifty witnessed notable declines, registering drops of 0.76 per cent and 0.87 per cent, respectively.

Pre-market scenario, The US market has encountered challenges in sustaining its upward trajectory as summer comes to a close. In the previous week, both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite saw reductions of 0.31 per cent and 1.90 per cent, respectively. This marked the Nasdaq Composite's initial two-week decline this year. On the contrary, the Dow Jones Industrial Average achieved a 0.62 per cent rise, securing its fourth positive week out of the past five.

 

At 09:30 AM, In morning trade, both the Sensex and Nifty witnessed notable declines, registering drops of 0.76 per cent and 0.87 per cent, respectively.

Similarly, the Nifty Mid-Cap and Nifty Small-Cap indices also marked significant reductions in their initial values, with the Nifty Mid-cap experiencing a substantial decline of 1.34 per cent, and the Nifty Small-cap undergoing a notable drop of 1.86 per cent.

Market volatility notably increased, exemplified by the India VIX, which surged by 9.11 per cent.

A widespread underperformance was evident across major sectors, with Nifty Metal, Nifty PSU Bank, and Nifty Realty standing out as the primary losers.

During the early trading hours, ONGC, Sun Pharma, and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories were Top Gainers, while Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, and Hindalco emerged among the Top Losers within the Nifty 50.

In terms of market breadth, approximately 339 stocks were advancing, while around 1574 stocks were declining. This distribution highlights the prevailing negative sentiment within the broader market.

On August 11, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth Rs 331.22 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) purchased shares worth Rs 703.72 crore.
