The Indian indices experienced a scene of carnage in bearish market tone and F&O expiry ahead of Union Budget on February 1.

The Indian indices experienced a scene of carnage in bearish market tone and F&O expiry ahead of Union Budget on February 1. The benchmark indices at BSE and NSE tanked by over 1.63 per cent and 1.91 per cent. The BSE Sensex index had a major fall of 949 and is trading at a level of 56,916.00. The BSE Information Technology and Healthcare sector were the most affected ones and dragged down the index. Today the FII net selloff was recorded at Rs -7094 crore and DII Inflow Rs 4534 crore was recorded.  

 

BSE MidCap is trading at 23,732.98 down by 516 points. The gaining stocks today in the index are Canara Bank (5.33 per cent), Union Bank (5.16 per cent), and RBL Bank (3.61 per cent).  

BSE SmallCap is trading at 28,495.27 falling by 374 points. The top gainers are TV18 Broadcast (19.92 per cent), Thyrocare (14.88 per cent), Sharda Corporation (9.99 per cent). 

 

Nifty 50 index is trading at 16,948.00 levels. Nifty Consumers index took the most beating on the exchange as heavyweight stocks dragged the performance. The major contributors are Cipla, State Bank Of India, Axis Bank, India Oil Corporation, and ONGC contributing the majority of the gain for the index. The stocks of Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, Eicher Motors, Wipro and Titan were among the top loser that dragged the index down.
