There are chances that even the well-planned trips need to be cancelled. The tour operators, airlines, provide minimal or no refunds in case of last minute cancellation. In this situation, no one can afford to lose all the money spent on the trip. One of the reasons to have a travel insurance is to protect yourself against the loss of trip cancellations for covered reasons. The reasons covered may vary for various insurance providers.

2. Accidents during travel

While you are travelling there is a possibility that you may experience a medical crisis while on your trip, such as trauma, strokes, heart attacks, etc. When you have a Travel Insurance it covers medical emergency.

3. May not have Health Insurance for overseas

In many cases existing health insurance policy do not cover you when you are overseas. If this is the case, then having a travel insurance may come to your rescue. When you have a travel insurance with emergency medical and dental benefits, it can pay for any loss due to covered medical and even dental emergencies.

4. Medical Evacuations can be expensive

If you get sick or are hurt very badly while travelling abroad and you need to be taken via a flight to the good quality hospital, the cost can be huge. Travel Insurance can pay for you to get commuted to the appropriate medical facility if you are suffering from covered illness or an injury while travelling.

5. Loss of baggage may ruin your trip

There is a possibility that while travelling you may lose your baggage or your baggage may get temporarily misplaced. Though the airlines are getting better in keeping track of your baggage, there is still a possibility of you losing your baggage and never getting back again. Having an adequate travel insurance can save your day though. It can reimburse you for the reasonable additional purchase of essential items. It can also reimburse you for loss or damage of baggage for the actual price, actual cash value, repair or replacement of your lost or damaged item, whichever is less, depending on the limits in your insurance policy. The limits may be different for various insurance providers.
