Budget 2022: Focus on mental health
A progressive step by the government
FM Nirmala Sitharaman acknowledged the spread of the latest COVID variant ‘Omicron’ as large instances but mild symptoms. However, she recognised the impact of COVID in the last two years on mental health. And thus, to provide mental health counselling and care services, a ‘National Tele-Mental Health Programme’ will be launched this year.
This will include a network of 23 tele-mental health centres. National health registered will be rolled out in fiscal 2022-23.
BSE Healthcare index is trading up by about 1.13 per cent as of now. Healthcare being, the crucial pillar of the Budget, is expected to have increased allocation.
