A mixed day on D-Street closed with the frontline index the Sensex closing at 58,803 up by 0.1 per cent or 37 points, while the Nifty index closed flat at 17,539.45. In the broader market, capital goods stocks gained strength with S&P BSE Capital Goods up by 1.1 per cent or 368 points at 32,818.08. 

Elgi Equipments, V-Guard Industries and Timken India witnessed positive action in today’s session.

Indices closed on a mixed note as Nifty slipped 3 points whereas Sensex gained 36 points. Profit booking was seen in Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap as they plunged 0.36 per cent & 0.17 per cent, respectively.

The FIIs sold equity worth Rs 2,290.31 crore on Thursday (September 1) while the DIIs bought equity for a net worth of Rs 951.13 crore.

At 1.30 pm on Friday, the headline equity indices, i.e. Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading flat due to mixed global cues as the US markets await jobs data for the month of August on Friday.    

The Asia-Pacific markets are also showing mixed reactions as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index is trading lower by 0.04 per cent and China’s Shanghai Composite is trading higher by 0.05 per cent.
